Buenos días, mis amados amigos!
I feel odd writing as I have come to realize that January is already over. How in the world did that happen? If anyone could explain this phenomenon to me, it would be greatly appreciated.
But yeah. Last week we celebrated my birthday! And I was definitely spoiled. We made tacos and ate cake as a zone. They love me sooooo much that they even put my cake in my face! I guess that's how the latinos celebrate. They usually buy two cakes just for the face smashing fun. We also had two home evenings with the ward members. It was pretty fun. With Oscar and Rosemary, a few of our favorite ward members stopped by and they got me another cake and bought me lots of Dr. Pepper! I left feeling very loved.
We've had a few setbacks with our work this week, but we are very pleased to announce that JORGE IS GETTING BAPTIZED! Could you hear that? JORGE! IS GETTING BAPTIZED! And now allllll of you have the assignment to pray for him. Because we know that Satan knows that he is going to be a great leader in the church, and the next three weeks of preparation are going to be really rough. I'll be sending out t-shirts that say 'Ore por Jorge' next week. :) (not really, but if someone wants to make a shirt that would be really exciting!)
Let's see... I can't think of anything else terribly exciting that's happened this week. But, I have been pondering a few things. I don't know if all of you have had the opportunity to be stressed to death by numbers, but it can be a really wearing experience. This week we have been working a lot more with less actives because we're having a hard time finding investigators. Sometimes I feel like ward council doesn't like it when our forms are filled with the names of inactives, because, well, we can't baptize people that are already members. I wanted to find a scripture for them.
Mathew 18:11-12. 'For the Son of Man is come to save that which is lost. How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which hath gone astray?'
I didn't share this with them because the time didn't seem opportune. But it did comfort me in knowing that teaching inactives is work just as important, or perhaps even more important, than baptizing. Have any of you heard the song 'Heaven's Eyes' from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack? I love one line in particular... "To one lost sheep a poor shepherd boy is much greater than the richest king." If we can't care for the sheep we have, why would we think that the Lord should bless us with more? Just some food for thought.
Anywho. Enough of my rambles. I hope you all are taking good care of yourselves. And don't forget, ore por Jorge!
With lots of love,
Hermana Schroader
