We've been having a really horrible time trying to get people to go to church. People here don't like to commit to things. On Sunday we actually walked like 4 miles just trying to collect people to go, and no one went. It was disheartening. We are trying to figure out how to either guilt them into going, or having a genuine understanding that it's important to go to church. We've considering threatening their salvation a few times, but we don't think that would be very nice. Any tips? What gets you up and going to church on Sunday?
This week we had our ward conference, and we had fun activities almost every night. We had a cool "Night of Converts" where converts to the church shared their testimonies, and we learned about the Restoration. We had a few investigators there and it was a big success! We also had a pot luck, and on Saturday we had a really fun talent show. We didn't get to stay the whole time because it was past our bedtime, but we watched a few skits and sang. We sang an arrangement of Be Still My Soul in Spanish, which was actually super cool because it's not in the Spanish hymnbook. A man in our ward has an arrangement because his mission president was the man that is in charge of translating the hymns into Spanish for the Hymnal. Fancy, eh?
Anywho. We've found some pretty cool people this week that I think have a lot of potential to progress. Pray that they can keep their commitments! We learned in Preach My Gospel this week that we aren't fulfilling our ministry as missionaries if we don't help people keep their commitments... What a daunting call we have.
Love you all. Have a fun and safe Halloween! Eat lots of Reese's for me. :)
