Good morning, my dear friends and family. What a long week it has been... I'm not sure what to write. We'll see what happens here.
We've been feeling kind of down this week. We've come across a few challenges here in Canto Rey, and it's a little stressful! It's hard to not get overwhelmed. I'm not quite sure why, considering that there is SO MUCH work to do, but we hardly taught anyone this week. It's stinks being a missionary and not teaching. You get home cold and tired at night wondering, what the heck did we do wrong today? We tried being more obedient, and nothing. We tried being happier, and nothing. And then we encounter another trial! Satan sure knows how to beat us when we're down. I know he doesn't send the trials, but he can sure attack our attitude if we're not careful. So be strong and of good courage! Don't give Satan the pleasure of having terrain over your emotions. Not worth it.
This week I got to give a talk in Sacrament Meeting. Granted, there weren't very many people there. But I enjoyed the study and preparation. I was asked to speak on the topic of reverence. The Primary songs definitely teach it best. "Reverence is more than just quietly sitting, it's thinking of Father above. A feeling I get when I think of his blessings. I'm reverent, for reverence is love." Something interesting that I learned is that reverence isn't something we do in church, but rather it's a lifestyle. We should be reverent in our manner of speech and dress, always remembering our Father in Heaven. We should prepare ourselves to make and keep sacred covenants. Reverence is not an act of Sunday. It's a way of living.
Sorry for being a little down this week! We had a pity party last night eating cheese from Arequipa and candy from Colombia. We have faith that this week will be better.
Hope you are all enjoying your summertime! Soak up some sunshine for me.
Love and miss you!
