This week I'm pondering on how crazy it is that I've lived in Lima, Perú for 9 months of my life. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I can testify that the Lord has his hand in all this. I have officially passed the halfway mark of my mission, and from here on out the months I have left will be smaller than the months I have completed as a full time missionary. Crazy, no?
Let's see... highlights of the week. I can't even remember! Chispas.
On PDay last week I took my first attempt at making my famous "Cassie's Cookies" here in Perú. Needless to say, a few things were missing here. I get a little stressed when people seem to think that you can estimate and eyeball baking as well. Ha! In the end I wasn't terribly satisfied, but everyone else seemed to think that they were delicious. I invited them all to my house to try my real cookies in 9 months. :)
On Wednesday to celebrate my halfway mark, our good friend Oscar took us out to lunch. That was fun too! He and his family always take really good care of us.
This week we've been seeing more people open up and really desire to change their lives and turn to the gospel. We are seeing more and more truth in the fact that we can't just plan out baptisms for numbers, but there is truly a process to conversion. I've found that when I leave lessons with these people, I get a little sad. I don't know if it's even really sad, but I feel the weight of the process they are going through. Obviously I'm happy and excited for them to be able to apply the Atonement in their lives. But a part of me just wants to go and take away the hurt for a little while. I can only imagine how our Heavenly Father feels when we suffer through these things.
I feel a little ashamed that I don't have any fantastic stories to share for this week, but the time just catches up on you here! I swear it was just PDay.
I love you all, as you all know very well. I hope that all is well in the other half of the world. I imagine the sun is starting to come out again in Arizona, no? We just welcomed in fall! (but it's still unpleasantly hot here).
With love, hugs, and prayers,
La Hermana Schroader
